Philadelphia Regional Winner!

Our Team at the Philadelphia Regional Competition

The Positronic Panthers competed with great success on March 25th through 27th. After the seeding rounds at the Drexel University Daskalakis Center, we were part of the winning alliance in the Saturday afternoon competition. We joined the alliance of Miss Daisy, the robot from Wissahickon High School, and the Miracle Workerz MOE Robotics Group from Delaware. We competed against 3 other robot alliance in the elimination match. Competition between the final alliance was fierce, and in the best out of 3 matches, we lost the first, won the second and were victorious in the third and final match!

How did we do it?

  • First, we had an awesome robot, great drivers and excellent programming code.
  • During the seeding matches, the team members in the stands and pits scouted other team's robots. They collected and evaluated statistics, then shared the info via Google docs with the crew in the pits. The pit crew used this information to prepare for the next match.
  • We also publicized our robot’s strengths, made connections with other teams during the matches, and shared statistics about our robot's goal-scoring success.
  • Finally, we had a lot of support from our team mentors, Mr. Landolph and Mr.Soscia, parents and family members, our sponsors; Boeing, 3M Dyneon, McNeil Pharmaceuticals, Joe Tancredi's Auto and Truck Repair and the Wallingford-Swarthmore School District.

Thank you to everyone who had a role in our

success!
